{"id":926,"date":"2011-02-21T15:48:46","date_gmt":"2011-02-21T20:48:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/74.117.146.64\/~brevardf\/?p=926"},"modified":"2011-02-21T15:48:46","modified_gmt":"2011-02-21T20:48:46","slug":"300-gather-for-national-wraparound-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fpocf.org\/300-gather-for-national-wraparound-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"300 Gather for National Wraparound Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Lucida Sans Unicode;\">MELBOURNE, FL \u2013 February 21, 2011 \u2013 300 social service professionals, from 37 states and Alberta, Canada gathered in Cocoa Beach, February 15 to 18, to share the latest information and advancements in the field of Wraparound, the family-centered, strength-based community model of abuse prevention and diversion.\u00a0 The event was presented by Brevard Family Partnership,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brevardcares.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brevard CARES<\/a>, and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nwi.pdx.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Wraparound Initiative<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lucida Sans Unicode;\">The three-day event included workshops, keynote addresses, and panel discussions featuring nationally recognized innovators and leaders in the field Wraparound who covered topics that included the various roles of staff\u00a0 in enhancing the Wraparound and Family Team Conference processes and enhancing natural supports that lead to better results for youth and families.\u00a0 Attendees also learned how they can implement and manage a successful Wraparound program in a community using the Brevard CARES model, which was developed by Brevard Family Partnership.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lucida Sans Unicode;\">\u201cThis was an incredible opportunity to bring together the experts in Wraparound and the practitioners in the field who use this model every day,\u201d said Brevard Family Partnership\u2019s CEO,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fpocf.org\/home\/pages\/ExecutiveStaff.cfm\">Dr. Patricia Nellius<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019re so pleased that there is such interest in this innovative and proven approach to abuse prevention and family safety and stability.\u00a0 We all came to together to learn how to strengthen families; whatever it takes.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lucida Sans Unicode;\">Featured speakers included:\u00a0<strong>Eric Bruns<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0Ph.D.<\/strong>, Co-founder, National Wraparound Initiative and Associate Professor, University of Washington School of Medicine, Division of Public Behavioral Health and Justice Policy;<strong>Gary DeCarolis<\/strong>, president, Center for Community Leadership;\u00a0<strong>John Franz<\/strong>, president, Paper Boat Consulting;\u00a0<strong>Kay Hodges, Ph.D.<\/strong>, professor, Psychology Department, Eastern Michigan University;\u00a0<strong>Andrew Schneider-Mu\u00f1oz, Ed. D., CYC-P<\/strong>,\u00a0 Innovation Consultant to Brevard Family Partnership and Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh;\u00a0<strong>Dan Naylor<\/strong>, president, White Pine Consulting;\u00a0<strong>Dr. Patricia Nellius<\/strong>, CEO, Brevard Family Partnership;<strong>Trina Osher<\/strong>, president, Huff Osher Consulting, Inc.; and\u00a0<strong>Janet S.
