Brevard Family Partnership Exceeds Goal for Child Adoptions <\/strong><\/p>\n

MELBOURNE, FL \u2013 August 16, 2017<\/p>\n

Brevard Family Partnership (BFP) has exceeded the goal for child adoptions finalized for fiscal year 2016-2017.\u00a0 BFP works in conjunction with IMPOWER, who provides overlay adoption case management services to achieve permanency for children who have been permanently removed from\u00a0their home and reside in foster, relative, or kinship care.<\/p>\n

The agency\u2019s adoption goal for the year was 67 adoptions, which was exceeded with a total of 98 adoptions finalized between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017.\u00a0 Several agencies within Brevard worked collaboratively to identify unique ways to help find permanency for the youth, including child-specific recruitment events, mentor families for older youth, participating in permanency round tables, and locating biological families that had previously lost their rights and engaging them to allow for potential placement as a non-relative.<\/p>\n

The IMPOWER adoption team is comprised of Dana Whitson, Adoptions Supervisor, Tina Reina, Adoption Support Coordinator, Steve Glywasky, Adoption Support Coordinator, and William (Bill) Marallo, Adoption Recruiter.\u00a0 The team works alongside Brevard Family Partnership\u2019s Director of Intake, Jessica Ayala, and Staff Attorney, Patrice Grier.<\/p>\n

Brevard Family Partnership has facilitated the adoption of over 900 children in our community since inception.<\/p>\n

About Brevard Family Partnership<\/strong><\/p>\n

Established in 2003 as a non-profit organization in response to the Legislative mandate to privatize foster care and related services in Florida (Section 409.986, Florida Statutes)<\/a>, Brevard Family Partnership is Brevard County\u2019s lead child welfare agency. The agency was subsequently awarded the contract, through the Florida Department of Children and Families, to manage Brevard County\u2019s child welfare system. Working in partnership with over 50 community organizations, its mission is to protect children, strengthen families and change lives through the prevention of child abuse and the operation and management of a comprehensive, integrated, community-based system of care for abused, abandoned and neglected children, and their families.<\/p>\n
