{"id":529,"date":"2010-10-26T17:07:56","date_gmt":"2010-10-26T17:07:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bcares.makingitsimple.net\/?p=529"},"modified":"2010-10-26T17:07:56","modified_gmt":"2010-10-26T17:07:56","slug":"chairs-for-c-a-r-e-s-to-benefit-brevard-c-a-r-e-s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fpocf.org\/chairs-for-c-a-r-e-s-to-benefit-brevard-c-a-r-e-s\/","title":{"rendered":"Chairs for C.A.R.E.S. to benefit Brevard C.A.R.E.S."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Local artists from Brevard County will be putting their inspirations and talents to good use, designing one-of-a-kind decorative chairs that will be auctioned off during \u201cChairs for C.A.R.E.S.\u201d an event to benefit Brevard C.A.R.E.S. on Saturday, November 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Cocoa Elks Lodge \u2013 315 Florida Ave. in Cocoa Village.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">The event is free to attend and also will showcase artistic works from children throughout Brevard, including children in foster care who reside at Country Acres group home, in Titusville.\u00a0 There will be a silent auction, door prizes, food, cash bar, and music and entertainment by Karaoke Tony.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u00a0\u201cChairs for C.A.R.E.S.\u201d is the brainchild of Carolyn Seiler, owner of Carolyn Seiler Studios in Cocoa Village who supports Brevard C.A.R.E.S. and the positive effect the organization has had in reducing the incidences of child abuse and neglect on the Space Coast. Through its unique use of Wraparound and Family Team Conferencing, Brevard C.A.R.E.S. provides formal and natural supports to families who may be experiencing stressors or situations that could lead to a child being removed from his or her home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u201cI\u2019ve been teaching art to children in my studio in for about 12 years,\u201d said Seiler. \u201cEvery year we host an art show to raise money for some worthy cause. One day a student arrived at class with his two new foster brothers. I immediately called his mom and said, \u201cWho needs our money?\u201d She told me about Brevard CARES and the connection was instant. This is kids helping kids and we know that any money we raise will go directly to those who are our friends, schoolmates, and neighbors. Our hope is that we raise not only money, but also awareness about the people in our community who might need our help. And I want our kids to know that the smallest contribution can make a difference.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Chairs available for auction will be on display during Cocoa Village\u2019s monthly Gallery Walk on Saturday, November 6.\u00a0 Sponsors of \u201cChairs for CARES\u201d include Bad Birds Gallery,\u00a0Cocoa Village Merchant\u2019s Association, Carolyn Seiler Studios, Max Trainer Studio, and Studio in Blue.
