You will be caring for abused or neglected children and serving as a role model for the biological families working toward reunification with their children. Here\u2019s how to get started on the path to becoming a foster parent.<\/span><\/p>\nSteps<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n\n- Participate in a foster parent information session and complete our screening questionnaire<\/a>.<\/li>\n
- Obtain eligible child abuse and criminal background checks.<\/li>\n
- Complete 27 hours of pre-service training.<\/li>\n
- Participate in the in-depth home study and inspection process.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
Qualifications<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\nYou may be eligible for foster parenting if you are:<\/span><\/p>\n\n- At least 21 years old.<\/span><\/li>\n
- Married or single.<\/span><\/li>\n
- Renting or owning.<\/span><\/li>\n
- Financially stable<\/span><\/li>\n
- Committed to loving and nurturing a child in your home.<\/span><\/li>\n
- Willing to work in partnership with everyone involved in the child\u2019s life to meet the child\u2019s needs.<\/span><\/li>\n
- Dedicated to helping a child reunify with their biological family.<\/span><\/li>\n
- In attendance at all required training sessions.<\/span><\/li>\n
- Able to physically accommodate children in your home.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
