{"id":2938,"date":"2014-08-08T09:36:02","date_gmt":"2014-08-08T13:36:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bfp.makingitsimple.net\/?p=2938"},"modified":"2014-08-08T09:36:02","modified_gmt":"2014-08-08T13:36:02","slug":"foster-parent-highlight-sandy-and-rubin-brock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fpocf.org\/foster-parent-highlight-sandy-and-rubin-brock\/","title":{"rendered":"Foster Parent Highlight: Sandy and Rubin Brock"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fpocf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Anthony-Adoption.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2939\" src=\"https:\/\/fpocf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Anthony-Adoption-573x600.jpg\" alt=\"Anthony Adoption\" width=\"369\" height=\"386\" \/><\/a>Sandy and Rubin Brock have been foster parents for the past 18 years.\u00a0 They were originally traditional foster parents, but decided 8 years ago to dedicate their home to working with Brevard\u2019s most medically fragile children. They have fostered numerous children in Brevard and have loved every moment of working in the child welfare system.<\/p>\n<p>Sandy grew up in a church community that had foster parents as members of the church.\u00a0 As a little girl, she understood what they did to help other children. Because of that experience, she knew she would be a foster parent one day. After Sandy and Rubin were married, they decided they would move forward with fostering children. Eighteen years later, they still feel that it is the right choice for their family.<\/p>\n<p>The Brock\u2019s feel it is their duty to give back to the community and that fostering helps them achieve this goal.\u00a0 When a child can safely be reunified with their parents, the Brock\u2019s feel a sense of pride in knowing they helped to prepare that child\u2019s parents to achieve this milestone.\u00a0 The use of social media has helped them remain in contact and be a support to families they\u2019ve worked with. Sandy and Rubin especially love the Christmas cards and updated photos of children received from families they have mentored!<\/p>\n<p>The Brocks hear the phrase \u201cwe could never do what you do\u201d often, but feel that is not the case. Most everyone they know and respect would make wonderful foster parents.
