class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;\"><b>What is Fictive Kin?<\/b><\/h3><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\" style=\"--awb-text-transform:none;\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fictive kin (or non-relatives) are people who are close to the family but not blood relatives. They are also not related to the family through marriage. Examples of fictive kin are long-time neighbors, god-parents, close family friends or mentors.
