MELBOURNE, FL \u2013 January 4, 2018 \u2013 Brevard Family Partnership (BFP) recently received reaccreditation from the Council on Accreditation (COA), identifying Brevard County\u2019s lead child welfare agency as an organization that has set high performance standards for itself and has made a commitment to their constituents to deliver the highest quality services.<\/p>\n
COA accreditation is an objective and reliable verification that provides confidence and support to an organization\u2019s service recipients, board members, staff and community partners. The accreditation process involves a detailed review and analysis of both an organization\u2019s administrative operations and its service delivery practices. All are \u201cmeasured\u201d against national standards of best practice. These standards emphasize services that are accessible, appropriate, culturally responsive, evidence based, and outcomes-oriented, In addition, they confirm that the services are provided by a skilled and supported workforce and that all individuals are treated with dignity and respect.<\/p>\n
In a letter to Jim Carlson, Interim CEO for the Brevard Family Partnership Family of Agencies, COA President and CEO Richard Klarberg wrote, \u201cOn behalf of the Council on Accreditation (COA), I am delighted to inform you that Community Based Care of Brevard, Inc. dba Brevard Family Partnership has been reaccredited. In addition, Community Based Care of Brevard, Inc. dba Brevard Family Partnership was expedited through the Pre-Commission Review Report (PCR) process as a result of not receiving any out of compliance ratings in any of the fundamental practice standards. Congratulations on this amazing achievement.\u201d<\/p>\n
The process to achieve accreditation took over a year of strategic effort and commitment and included BFP self-assessing and reporting on its operations, programs and services, and policies and procedures. It also included site visits by COA reviewers who reviewed and validated all of BFP\u2019s data and interviewed several staff members.<\/p>\n
COA is an international, independent, not-for-profit, child and family-service, and behavioral healthcare accrediting organization. It was founded in 1977 by the Child Welfare League of America and Family Service America (now the Alliance for Children and Families). The mission of COA is to partner with human service organizations worldwide to improve service delivery outcomes by developing, applying, and promoting accreditation standards. They envision excellence in the delivery of human services globally, resulting in the well-being of individuals, families, and communities.<\/p>\n
Established in 2003 as a non-profit organization in response to the Legislative mandate to privatize foster care and related services in Florida (Section 409.986, Florida Statutes), Brevard Family Partnership is Brevard County\u2019s lead child welfare agency. The agency was subsequently awarded the contract, through the Florida Department of Children and Families, to manage Brevard County\u2019s child welfare system. Working in partnership with over 50 community organizations, its mission is to protect children, strengthen families and change lives through the prevention of child abuse and the operation and management of a comprehensive, integrated, community-based system of care for abused, abandoned and neglected children, and their families.<\/p>\n
